Walt's Dupuytren's Contracture Page

This site was opened on April 6th, 2001 and is designed to be a source of information for any individual afflicted with an obscure disease called Dupuytren's Contracture (pronounced DUE POO TRENS). I'm assuming that if you've found this page, you have already been diagnosed with the condition and are somewhat familiar with its cause (unknown), history and some treatments. If you want more details or speculation as to the cause and history of it, please go to my links page.

The information on this site consists of a list and discussion of the various treatments currently available, links to other Dupuytren's sites as well as MY OPINIONS and first-hand personal experiences. What I say here is MY opinion based upon MY personal experiences with the various currently available Dupuytren's treatments. I encourage you to read what I have to say, visit the links, visit with the doctors of your choice and then make your own decision about the best treatment options for you. I'm not in the business of rendering medical opinions or suggesting treatment options for others.

Although I am not a doctor, I play one in real life and was a biology major in college. In general, I view the medical profession like car mechanics. Unless you can tell them specifically what is wrong with you, they've got a 50/50 chance at finding the problem, let alone fixing it. This, coupled with the way many treat their patients, has led many of us to seek alternatives to the medical profession to diagnose and treat diseases about which the medical community is ignorant.

As more info becomes available, it will initially be posted on the What's New page. I expect little in the way of new content except for additions to the FAQ page and experiences that others choose to share with me via email. Since my primary goal was to get this information posted as quickly as possible, I've not spent much time on page layout or formatting. This will possibly be done as my time permits.

Web space these days is typically free with almost any ISP. If you have information that you'd like to share, in the form of a link to your Dupuytren's-related page or someone else's web page, please email this information to me so that I can add it to my links page.
